Mitchell Williams Grants Scholarship to Bowen Third-year Student
Mitchell, Williams, Selig, Gates & Woodyard, PLLC, a full-service law firm with offices in Little Rock and Rogers; Austin, Texas; and New York City, has awarded law student Janiella C. Shirley with the 2009 Mitchell Williams Scholarship.
Shirley received a scholarship award in the amount of $2,000. Each year, scholarships are presented annually to the Chairman of the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law Moot Court Board and to the Chairman of the University of Arkansas (UA) School of Law at Fayetteville Board of Advocates.
Prior to attending law school, Shirley served as a teacher with the Houston Independent School District in Texas from 2003 to 2007, earning the E.O. Smith Elementary Teacher of the Year Award for innovations in the classroom. She has also worked as an insurance underwriter for AAA Texas Insurance and as an account service representative for AIM Investments.
Shirley is expected to graduate in May 2010 from the Bowen School. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Business Management in 2000 from Texas Tech University and a Master of Education in Educational Administration in 2006 from Prairie View A&M University.
