Bowen alumni Emilie H. Leibovitch, ’06, publishes article on European Union

Emilie H. Leibovitch received her J.D. from Bowen in 2006 and also received an LLM in Agricultural Law from the University of Arkansas. We would like to recognize her recently published article titled European Union Food Law Update. The article addresses significant changes in EU food law that occurred between 2006 and early 2008 and was also published in the Journal of Food Law & Policy.

Leibovitch is a member of the Arkansas and District of Columbia Bars and is an Associate Member of the Brussels Bar. She practices American and international law in her
Brussels-based office with a focus on U.S./E.U. food law, international trade regulatory matters and U.S. immigration law. In addition to her law practice, she is pursuing a Ph.D. at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, France, in the area of international and European food law. She regularly publishes in academic journals and professional newsletters and is the English translator of the commentaries on WTO case law published by the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne's Center of Studies and Research in International Law. She is currently co-authoring a book chapter with former National Agricultural Law Center Director Michael T. Roberts, which compares E.U. and U.S. "green" and sustainability regulations and policies, to be published in Alternatives to Conventional Food Processing by the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK), Green Book Series. In fall 2009, she will be teaching a course on American procedural law and international arbitration at the Université de Metz Law School in France.
