Swine Flu Update from Dean DiPippa

Many of you are concerned over the spread of the Swine Flu (a.k.a H1N1). We think it is unlikely that the flu will interrupt finals, graduation, or the operation of the law school but we want to have a plan in case something happens.

What we will do depends on how severe things get but, if a flu outbreak happens at the Law School or in Little Rock, we will do our best to administer exams with the least amount of disruption. We’ll get the details of this plan to you soon.

It is important that you do not come to the law school if you have the flu. Let us know immediately if you have the flu so that we can make the necessary arrangements for your exams.

Finally, do the simple things that will prevent infection:

  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze.
    • Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
  • If you get sick with influenza, stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
