When the nervously awaited results of the July Arkansas Bar Exam were released on September 5, the news was good for the Bowen School of Law. Bowen graduates’ passage rate was 86 per cent. Bowen graduate Brian A. Pipkin, Class of 2008, earned the top score.
The Arkansas Bar Examination is administered twice a year, in July and February. It is a three-day exam in Arkansas, although it lasts only two days in some states. This July, 222 individuals took the examination, 90 from UALR and 45 from out-of-state law schools.
For the past several years, Andy Taylor, Bowen Assistant Dean for Academic Support, has provided a hospitality room across the street from the test center offering breakfast, lunch, and moral support to our graduates. Dean Taylor also teaches a one-hour Preparing for the Bar Examination course each semester.
